The Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) revolutionized gaming for decades to come with its four-face button layout, 16-bit graphics, and Mode 7 capabilities. It perfected 2D game design, solidified the popularity of JRPGs, and had a gaming library filled with widely regarded masterpieces. The console had even introduced the Super FX chip that allowed for 3D polygonal graphics in some games like Star Fox.

The SNES also lives on through the 2017 SNES Classic Edition, a 21-game console that lets you play iconic SNES games, including the previously unreleased Star Fox 2. The Nintendo Switch also has many SNES games preserved through Nintendo Switch Online for newer generations to play.
